Update Existing Beds

Ideal for you if:

  • Your foundation planting beds are sparsely planted.

  • You are ready to pivot away from the evergreen yews planted under your windows way back in the 1960s.

  • You still want a traditional lawn but want it to contrast with something colorful and textured .

  • You want to start small and see what native plants are like in a more formal setting.

Traditional landscaping practices have led to overgrown, oddly-shaped evergreen shrubs blocking our windows and creating visual clutter in our property’s facade. In an effort to create a tidy appearance, these same practices also promote repeated edging, which results in bloated, sparsely-planted beds that deform the original design of the yard.

We can do better! Consider how a native perennial garden, populated by species that know each other and moderate each other by filling in different niches, can more effectively frame the facade of your home. These plants will add color, texture, depth, health, and seasonal interest–even in the winter! They will require fewer inputs from you; no more mulch, no more annuals, no more fertilizer, no more weeding.
